I haven't really felt like writing anything on here for a while, all I can manage right now are some short updates on Twitter.
First week of uni is over, and I have some fun courses, boring ones, ones that concern me and make me laugh. I guess the mix could make it an interesting 6 month. But it is still lurking in my mind; the fact that were done after this, and plans have to be made for the future.
Standing in an empty Pandora Store in Perth, there isn't a whole lot more to do, but to think about these type of things.
I'll just have to hope for the best, but as claimed by friends, I don't seem to have the best Karma right now. But then, nobody else seem to have it either.

I'm back in Stockholm after spending 3.5 days in Barcelona doing the Tourist route and eating a lot of great foods. I know everyone have seen the Antoni Gaudi cathedral and the other buildings but it was truly worth it. Not so bad for someone who was taken for a common bum.
On the roof of Casa Mila the edge of the balcony was so short so if someone were to trip on a shoe lace it would be bye bye, Forever...

I made it to Amsterdam Airport. It is almost 6am and all the stores are starting to open for today's trading. In the state I'm in I must admit it is tempting/dangerous.
Tried to pay my phone bill on the online network, I know, not very cleaver, but I was trying to save some of my funds. Anywho, it didn't work so... here I am in the middle of a shopping plaza with a fresh pay on my account. No. I will bee good. I promise.

I managed to sleep a fair bit, between India and Minsk, which is quite an accomplishment for me, who always get distracted by the crew, reading lights, or especially the map on the screen saying where we are, speed, temp. and so on. Amazing how interesting it can be at 3am when everyone else is sleeping. Poor eyes.

Imagine my surprise when I woke up and saw Minsk on the map, just above the huge plane taking up a third of the country.

Coffee or shopping, that is to be decided, but I'm almost home.

The Picture of Dorian Gray

I borrowed the Oscar Wilde classic, "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and it absolutely amused me. The book signifies the controversy of the time but I can help but get lost in the description of art and how it is viewed.
By the artist the piece is his soul, bare and naked; but for the subject, Dorian Gray, who in the book possesses the piece, the portrait has become his real identify, which by him seem quite unrealized. He seems to think that his personality is when he reflects the views of his fellows that are Lord Henry and Basil.
Dorian thus has three identities. The life of Basil the painter who as any artist loves the superficial: the beauty of things; and the harsh and cynical life of Lord Henry, who has greatly influenced Dorian's views, or outright replaced them. And the real Dorian in the painting, who changes expressions as his conscience is stirred.
When he looks at the painting he sees his true self, that the artist so cleverly captured.
The portrait haunts him and it seems he can't stand the person looking back at him. Dorian refuses to let anyone else see the portrait because he is convinced the painting reveals his darkest secrets as the artist believe he has revealed too much of his soul in his best work ever.
It is amazing because it is brilliantly explained what great artists can accomplish. Perfected art reflect the viewer and the pieces become alive. It is truly passion in the creator the media and the viewer that creates the magic of art.

A trip to Wollies

I went to Wollies after work to stock up on the essentials, but it's so fucking boring to go shopping for the normal stuff so I decided to treat myself - and got chili, olives and cheeses and made a warm summery salad.

Lucky people are going to SEA soon. I just wish I could go too, but all I can do is to look back...
When we first started traveling we found amazing places where we had an island all to ourselves, where my sister and I practiced to drink like they do in the ads, meaning pooring out all the bottled water onto our faces, which resulted in solsting... hahaha

The elephant wanted to show us how he could pull down branches to clear his way, but one of the logs that was stuck in the tree tops fell down and hit Veronica in the face. Poor elephant felt so bad when she stared crying...

In one of the more recent trips we went through Laos where we did the tourist favorite, tubing, including a lot of stops at the bars along the way drinking homemade lao whiskey and beer, in Vang Vieng. Above: Dad and riverside bar, Below: Veronica and I

On the bar street all the bars show Friends on widescreens, which was nice for a while, but we found an Israeli bar that was a Friends free zone.

We traveled by public bus which was hot and uncomfortable for 8 hours, but a fun experience, I got pretty bored...

Today two guys came into the shop to fix the aircon, but soon they had to leave for their Christmas function, and left us with a big hole in the roof in a 33 degree heat. We had use a bouncer to ensure that there were no more than 10 people in the store at one time, cause it was so hot the staff almost fainted. Puh!
I just find it so amazing that people are so crazy about pandora and would wait for almost an hour to get served, which, now that Christmas is just around the corner, not uncommon.

We got new Chrismas outfits to match our decorations in the store. We've got snowflakes dangeling above our heads, sort of teasing us in the unbarable heat, but hey when it's christmas even hot and sunny Australia have to have snow. These are the days when I miss the gray and cold Christmas in Sweden.

I've been working quite a lot lately and the Christmas shopping has really kicked in at work. Therefore my days are like following...
Get up, go to work, eat a sandwich in the office since my lunch is at short as it could possibly be, I sell sell sell, go home sleep a while and then watch a bit of tellie, fall asleep and then repeat.
So I thought, ill just go for a drive and ended up at Trigg beach, the sun had just set so you could see traces of the pink and yellow at the horizon.
Now the sky is dark and I can barely see the surf cause my phone is so bright so my eyes must r4eajust to the night when I look up. The sound of waves are calming thou.

Finished School now and have about three month of holidays. While my work hours keep rising I just have more time to do other things. Like last time.
We first went to flying Scotsman new place flying high, I think it was called, with a great range of beer of all different strength and tastes, followed by the bakery where the first thing i saw, just after I had admired the blow-up igloo, was a man putting a needle through hid John-Tomas into a plank and dangling it. He fell down trembling in pain from his own accomplishment, yet very proud.
The igloo however was very nice, it was cold out and even though the air wasn't that fresh at least the closed in heat generated by all the people in there was pretty nice. No smoking thou.
Now, from Friday I will basically work everyday for three weeks. So I think it is all justified.

My sister just reminded me about this creepy man who sent a personalized letter to my apartment addressed to someone who didn't live there any more, so we opened it.
It was from Kenneth, who buy the way is a Sexologist. He was planning to meet this woman at Copacabana in Hornstull, just across the street from my apartment.
In this letter he had attached a couple of photos of himself and a DVD he had made himself about his services.
One couldn't help but get chills down ones back.

The Cove

Ended up going to the Cove last night, I realized at that point that the only thing I had eaten since breakfast was a strawberry sorbet. So I had a bruchetta. CJ and Annelyne joined me at Kings Park for some white wine and beer, prior. So I figured to con tinue on that path, sharing a bottle with Annelyne.

When they closed we jumped on the closest boat, a two massive engine boat, with Jim Beam and Coke in the fridge. We drank while we were touring Swan River.
And then I got to DRIVE the boat and Markus, Nicklas, Melissa and Annelyn, got pretty worried, but I was great.

I woke up in the footend of my bed with my clothes on with a hairlacky in my hand ready to wash off my make-up. I slept on my bag. Nice!

Breakfast and Kings Park

Every month Pandora (Angela) invites us all to a meeting. Last time it was at C-Restaurant in Perth, which unfortunately I was unable to attend. But this morning we went to Subiaco Hotel, where we enjoyed a a la carte menu and great coffee.
I took a walk along Rockaby Road and found myself in close proximity to Kings Park, which seemed like a place where I could get some things done, without having a black cloud over my head, that is sitting inside on a beautiful day like this.
I spent about 30 minutes enjoying the view over Perth Skyline until my battery died on me.

Luckily enough, its sunday and there are a lot o great cafés around.
Right now I'm sitting on a high bar stool drinking a cappuccino and san pellegrino at the Botanical Café.
It is quite entertaining I must say, cause if you've ever seen hells kitchen or anything with that same dude, that I can remember the name of, you'd get a full on flash back with an open kitchen and people running around like crazy screaming "YES CHEF!" "YES CHEF!"

Remember Dancing, Sister?

Slacking in the sofa all day and watching movies is the most fun I will have this Saturday night. I got pretty hammered last night - I went straight from work to Markus, Melissa and Niklas' place and forgot I hadn't had anything to eat since the small Greek salad I had for lunch. When I got there I realized that I was pretty behind - I must say that Dennis was a happy camper, who unlike me chose not to eat.
Anyhow, we did a pit-stop at Hula Bula and ended up at The Manor. At this point I was quite happy myself and was jumping around dancing by the piano.
I found it quite funny considering how drunk I was. Hence the relaxing day on the sofa.

Channel 7 are showing Pretty Woman which reminded my of the time when my sister and I was bar hopping in Stockholm, copying the original dance style of the painter at The Blue Banana Club in Hollywood.

It was sort of a snake like or sex like movement of the lower body while spray painting or brush painting on the imagined wall, that is the space in between us. We were dancing as if we were mirror images of each other.
I suddenly understand why the people at East enjoyed our routines. Those were the good days. Remember Nicci? I can believe I still know all the words in the movie. We must have seen it quite a few times ey!?

Ones again I went to the beach with Karin. We saw a lot of Speedos and and seagulls through our apple juice bottles transformed into crystal wine glasses.

After spending 3 hours locked inside Joondalup ECU learning about business leads and how to approach these to get the best response in the prospect pipeline, this was a nice change of environment.

And as for those who chose the pool over school, sometimes you can do both ;)

First summer day in Perth today. 30 degrees and a nice warm, yet cooling breeze.
As any Swede would CJ and I took everything we could detract ourselves with and headed for the pool deck.
So far we are just getting to the shrimp pink colour but are getting closer to the bright red coat of the cooked lobster.
But hey, as Swedes, we will be forgiven.
I got to use the new bikini I got from my lovely sister.

A Marimekko bikini and a straw hat with a white and blue ribbon is what can describe the first day in the sun - and the water is fantastically refreshing.

Home is Hay Again

We made it home after a few misunderstandings and bumps in the road. But we kept our mood on a decent level, meaning we spent a lot of time, these last 24 hours, spending time.

Dennis introduced us to the "pick machines" at Avalon Airport, just north of Melbourne (I think). The goal was to get the Yo-Yo that he had set his eyes on the night before - the night we missed our flight. So now we were all involved. We spent at least 60 AUD in this machine, we won a lot of chocolate that no one wanted, and we never got the Yo-Yo. As you can see this turned into a serious quest where we relied on physics, mathematical calculations and instrinct to get closer to our goal - the blue yo-yo. Happy time is time well spent.

Since I haven't really updated the blog yet I will add photo's and stories soon. I just need a few hours rest. See this as a teaser.

We just came to the airport just with plenty of time to check in, or so we thought. We were meant to fly out from Melbourne Airport and we were informed that there is no chance we would get there in time.
So, to boganville we are headed. There is a place there for us, waiting with foxtel and everything.
As the trip started very randomly kharma gave us a random end.

Melbourne Baby!

We decided, after a rough night with little happening in Perth, to get on a plane and head to Melbourne.

We arrived last night at 1 am since then we have:

Checked in at the backpackers, which CJ wasn't too happy with.

We searched for food, and ended up at the Casino (tip from the backpackers) where the only decent food was McDonald's, which was crowded by Uni Games players, who all were dressed in neon colors and three sleeping tourists.

Occupied a private karaoke room, where we ordered drinks for 125AUD to finish within 45 minutes while singing "Put your head on my sho-o-o-oulder"

explored a wonderland alley, where as in the fairy tails you could get lost, just like Alice, and you even go to choose between two doors, Karin and I did not dare to enter. After all it was 5 am at this point.

Spent the remaining hours of dark in a 24 hour licenced café, playing a game of "the one who finishes their drink first gets the last one, bought for the purpose, as a prize,

and we are still, basically standing, all except Hein who, qoute: "är jävligt trött, men inte helt förstörd".

Now we have moved to a better accommodation full of promises, three more days of adventure.
Soon 24hours and counting, if we keep it up, I can promise some great stories.

Facebook Targeted Ads

The idea with the new Facebook was seemingly to create an advertising friendly atmosphere, where advertising banners can be incorporated, with little disturbance to the user. The advertising online is suppose to be more accurately targeted to reach the target segment with minimum cost and effort. But one has to wonder, when an ad like this one...

...shows up on an absolute atheist's page, where the filter for fragmentation is limited. Waste, cause of exposure or no loss because, me ie. not the target audience, would never click it. Or perhaps I should, just cause I think it is stupid.

I just enjoyed the 2nd episode of Fringe, and as many other series, I suspect, leaning on the Fibonacci numbers. I could not help but to refresh my memory from, hmm, lets see, might have been year 11 maths, here in Australia. Lets face it, Sweden doesn't have as good maths education in high school.

There are some weird connections to Fibonacci numbers in nature:
For example, in the bee community, an egg laid by a unmated female will hatch a male (which in that case only has one parent, the mom bee) while an egg fertilized by a male bee will hatch female. (The female bees therefore always have two parents).
As the Fibonacci number sequence starts: 0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13, we can see that the bee community follows the same pattern:

One male bee (1 bee), he has 1 female parent (1 bee). This female had 2 parents, a male and a female (2 bees). The female had two parents, a male and a female, and the male had one female (3 bees). Those two females each had two parents, and the male had one (5 bees) and so on.

So the family tree is quite structured don't you think.

Apart from this I'm not quite sure what the Fibonacci numbers has to do with the Doctor in Fringe. He might be playing a mathematical game, to put himself to sleep, or in fact, he instead of counting sheep, as we mortals do, he counts the bees' family tree.

Or maybe he is counting, by habit, the number of eggs he would have to produce to ensure that the soldiers he was growing, that was in fact related to the natural pattern of Fibonacci, was of the standard he wanted.

The Passing of Flu

Was pretty much hoping that I would be on the top of hill moving slowly towards the downhill on the other side of this thing called Flu. Tricky business this Flu. It seems it has bonded with me and refuse to let go. Much like a person who has selected you as a friend, even though it knows that there is nothing more uncomfortable than a conversation between the two, it hangs on - constantly reminding you of its presence, that is the fever, much like a presence of a Ghost.

With Ghosts it has been said that you should acknowledge it's presence and then release it. I tried the theory with Flu and the result should have been equally relieving, but had no passing. As it was moving towards the light, ready to cross over it decided to hold on to the past, which for Flu and Ghost is not very healthy.

This revelation has made me rethink my battle front. Perhaps, unlike Ghost, Flu is more like a demonic presence in your body that can only be expelled by a proper exorcist. This conclusion, supported by the endless efforts to release it in to the light - that up to this point have not seemed to work - must as Martin Trevaskis, wisely, pointed out, as a demonic power, be passed on - becasue it surely cannot be destroyed.
The Soul needs cleansing.

PR vs Advertising

Currently writing an essay for Current Issues in Marketing, and I chose the topic why less is spent on PR and more on advertising, hoping that this would include some new topics, that we haven't discussed to pieces. Partly happy with my choice.
I realized that there is no way, in any topic to actually avoid the issue of measurement, which in the industry seem to be the most important factor in keeping business, since the clients always want to make sure that they get a good ROI, including public relation practice.
The problem seems to be that people don't know how to measure eighter advertising or PR, which creates a problem, where the agencies present a whole bunch of stats to the client, trying to justify that the budget spend was indeed a good investment. Clients nod and go of wondering what the numbers actually said.
Luckily enough, for me, in the advertising industry, PR seems to be a lot harder to measure than advertising, which gives advertising at least a few decades on PR as a communication tool. Yippie.
On PR, advertising is at least entertaining to watch, but PR, when you can tell that, which PR practitioners argue that you don't, there is a practitioner and a client behind the news you read or spontaneous outbreaks on the morning show, you just think, how tacky is that. An attempt to sell me something without me noticing. Isn't that much more tacky than advertising that upfront is selling or communicating with you openly, instead of trying to sneak in messages of promotion in what is suppose to be a news story.
Hopefully people recognise the difference.
But okey all PR isn't like that. It is truly interesting to read about new innovations etc.

The City is growing and it is fun to see that in the center of the city, just by St George's Terrace, there is a huge hole full of promises. Promises of a greater Perth, with a lot more... And from sources, I have learned that, not only the big brands Chanel and Prada are opening flagship-stores on Hay Street, but all of the new shopping gallerias, currently being built, are scheduled to open in December.

In a city like this, that have been known as a huge smalltown, rather then the international airport holder closest to the rest of the world, it is exciting to see that the city is trying to take advantage of it's opportunities.

The last few days have been perfectly beautiful, and I am happy to tell you. Actually sitting on the balcony having a few Coopers Original. It is 17.54 and the sky is blue with a few pink and orange puffs of clouds. The sun is setting and i have sent in my Current Issues of Marketing Seminar Report, and feel quite confident that I won't get a satisfying score on this one, but it's okey - cause everything is okey when the sun is on my side. Actually spent about 4 hours in a chair inside Dome Westend to finish it, and I'm feeling happy yet restless. One can not stay in one chair for too long without getting a bit eccentric. And as I've been told I just chat a lot in that state, which CJ is quite annoyed with right now, cause he's writing an article for Urban Lifestyle Report, and just pointed out to me that "Business sends Emails to Customers" is not Sexy, according to Mark in the current issue of AdNews. But really. Who's more appropriate to talk to about subjects like that?

Oh, by the way, from our balcony we have a great view of a man who enjoys to show his private parts and rub them with the blind up, in the light of his spotlight, in the evenings when the sun has gone down, cause that's when you can see him properly.

Very cleaver, but I don't really approve. That's not what you'd like to see when you go outside for a cigg at night. And now I can't help but look - not good I tell you.

As I feared, the combination of working, doing my third year of my bachelor and meeting my friends on my days of is quite stressful - and I'm only three weeks in to the semester.

I found the time to sit down for a while, while the sun was still up and just relax, after having quickly proof read my assignment that was due today. Just sit down for a few minutes before staring on an other assignment that was basically due sometime last week.

But these minutes have given me the opportunity to reflect on a few things. But I quite confident that this week has been one of the worst so far, because of my birthday.

Still feeling alright thou.

It's 16.59 and I have been surprised 2 times already. I arrived at work and Ange had ordered helium balloons and put them up in the office at pandora. She bought muffins from David Jones and chips and dip. The first thing tho - she gave me a BIG glass of champagne - which was exactly what i needed after a lot of the drinks at the Black and White party yesterday.

Pandora opened almost 2 months ago and yesterday a few of the marketing team from Denmark joined us, the flagship-store girls and the retailers, supported with media publications from Australia, to celebrate the successful market penetration.

The event was smaller than what I expected but at least I got the chance to meet some of the driving force behind Pandora Jewelry.

There where quite a few magazines and newspapers present, The West Australian, Box Magazine and others. And more than ones we, as in CJ and I had to pose, spell out our complex Swedish names, which in the end always turned out to be Verg and Malmstem.

It is exciting though to see where these pictures actually end up and if the pose practices payed off. (I don't know any others who can stare at the mirror as much and as long as we can). We basically had to plan the apartment interior to the most time efficient way to look in the mirror one last time before leaving.

Anywho.

The night was a success and we ended up at Hula Bula Bar yet again to sink a few Shrunken Heads before the nightly routine - drinking a few glasses of red before hitting the sack, harder than expected when the night began.

In between working and buying compact powder and rushing home to get changed I found myself too stressed out to actually eat anything at all. Which might have a play in the constant dizziness of this slow and painful Friday.

But rest is for buggers who have nothing to live for, so, tonight will commence with a few Friday night drinks at work and then quick change stop leading to Hula Bula - Devilles and most probably the nightly glasses. (the excuse being having to celebrate that all the Sweeds are back from their fab holiday in the green grass of Stockholm).

Good enough argument I suggest.

However I can help myself from thinking of ways to get out of it - cause with these people - a simple no is never enough.

Cause I've been working quite a lot lately, 38 h a week, I have been exposed to all the activities in the city centre. The Pope is in Australia. He arrived yesterday to celebrate world youth day in Sydney. To celebrate his arrival the young and older catholics from all over the world has been standing in the Hay Street Mall singing some version of a hallelujah song in Italian, for days now. At the same time other youth groups are demonstrating against Scientology. (Sorry they are not youth groups they just seem young that's all, maybe its the masks).
I don't really know the connection between V for Vendetta and the religious demonstration but the demonstrators are wearing that same mask, you know the creepy one, the white one with a narrow chin.
One religion sharing the streets with anti-Scientology.
As a third party in this religious buffet the Hare Krishna is chanting and singing religious songs, walking/strutting/dancing up and down past the shop.
But the strongest presence is the one of the catholic youth. Because the Pope is in Australia the whole country is religious again, at least for a week or so, til he has left the country, and is back far overseas where he does not get a lot of attention or credit of power. But for the people, just knowing he is in the country he brings a spiritual buzz to the slight believers who get so excited that their faith is contagious.
I heard, on the news, that the people that will be attending mass this Sunday expect to have an express ticket to heaven. Good luck with that people. I mean, even if you are right in your beliefs I doubt that God would fall for that easy one.
In eighter case i think that it is quite interesting that people can get so effected by a person who, as the leader of Catholic faith, seems to have more power over the world than we are led to believe.

One Beer Plans Never Work

I had one day off work and Sammy Boy was too tired to go out the night before and we therefore planned to go out for an early beer so i could get up and look somewhat normal for work the next day but one beer became many and many beers became a drink and the one drink became a few more.We started at the shabby moon garden place on Murrey Street and got the first beers and went on to the bar above ( cant remember the name of the place). They have, most of the time, great drinks. And I mean the interior is something different, with weird elf looking people painted on the roof and the walls were blue satin.

Devilles (I think thats how they spell it) on Aberdeen Street 2 was as fun as one who have been to Hula Bula Bar expect. The bar was quite big with a centre dance floor. and the people were different from the other bars we have gotten in to a habit of going to. These people at least put in an effort to get noticed.
The dance floor was framed by to dancers who danced to the psychedelic music playing all night long. The poor girl on the left was so tired she could barely lift her arms in the dancing monkey.

After the long night Sammy decided to get sour cream for his Mexican mix but if we study the can closer, which people who have consumed alcohol since 7pm have trouble doing, it says thickened cream, to Sammy's huge disappointment. And those of you who know Sammy now that I'm not exaggerating when saying that he spent almost an hour deciding if he was going to buy it or not.
After he finally made his purchase I was on my way home, hoping to get a cab on St George's Terrace, but I never did. I walked alone in 2 degrees all the way home, while cab after cab refused to pull over for me. I must have looked really dangerous or extremely drunk cause the ones that passed me were lit.

I have spent the last 24 hours moving from east to west. As a well deserved rest i drove to good old Cottesloe. Friends, they have started to build the new house on Eric Street. Just the base but still. It was quite sad to see, we had so much fun in the old house, not to mention my beloved wall painting in the bathroom.

At Blue Waters I got my first coffee of the day and went down towards the beach - it was very windy but it was nice to see the agressive waves and the old men trying to freestyle while they are being sucked in by the massive waves.
